So, last night I cooked dinner for five (including me) for my parents and two of their friends. I wanted this dinner to be really special and I worked out an easy menu for it:
Amuse Bouche- Like Course
Sweet Basil Drink with Spicy Prawns
The prawns were cooked with cayenne pepper and Sriracha Chili Sauce, which gave it a spicy Asian flavor that worked beautifully with the sweet basil drink to cool down the spices. Here’s a picture of it:

Appetizers
For the appetizers, I thought of a salad and bread with one of the olive oil dips you usually get at Italian restaurants. For the salad, I hollowed out a Brioche bread slice to act as a bowl and then put in spinach, arugula, mini bell peppers and tomato slices with a simple vinaigrette made from balsamic vinegar, olive oil and honey. With it I served olive bread with some garlic infused olive oil topped with chili flakes and some grated cheeses.

Main Course
For the main course, I went German and served Chicken Stroganoff with German spätzle, based on a Gordon Ramsay recipe I found here. The crunch of the spätzle went really well with the Stroganoff.

Dessert
For dessert, I made some vanilla pannacotta with a blueberry sacue, another Gordon Ramsay recipe found in the book: Healthy Appetite. It was light and the sauce had just the right amount of sweetness and tartness.
